Another summer, God has been faithful in continuing His work in West Philadelphia. Everything from the Parking Lot Carnival (Fun Under the Son), Vacation Bible School, and Lighthouse, God has used these ministries to reach our neighborhood with the gospel. Fun Under the Son was a great time for us to get to know the neighborhood families as they came out to enjoy some games, food, prizes, a skit presentation and a short message. The week-long Vacation Bible School was a tiring time but also a very joyouse time to see so many kids come out and learn about our Lord through the various stations (Bible Story, Memory Verse, Snacks, Crafts, and Games). It was especially encouraging to see so many volunteers willing to help with any need that arose. Lighthouse Day Camp in July was a great time of relationship building between the teachers and the students. And we hope that through these relationships and the various activities of the camp, the students grew to know and love our Lord a bit more. Among many glimpses of God's active work in our children's hearts, there was one student from Love class I'd like to share about in particular. A troublemaker and disobedient student in the beginning, we saw a change in him as his desire to know the Lord grew. In one journal entry, he wrote, "God, please save my life." By the end of the month, if you see in the banquet video below, as he is asked what he is thankful for, he responds, "... I love my sister and God is in my heart." We pray God continues to reveal Himself more and more, to us, our children and their families, here in West Philadelphia.
Below are a few pictures and videos of the summer ministries we would like to share with you. Thank you so much for your prayers and support.
